Here are 5 things I used in my pregnancy. Please note, I share personal anecdotes of supplements and teas I used in my own pregnancy. So PLEASE make sure that you are checking with your primary care pregnancy provider before starting any supplement or tea!
1. The FullWell Prenatal Supplement.
I really love the FullWell Prenatal supplement and used it myself during my pregnancy. It has everything that I look for in a prenatal supplement. It has the bioavailable form of folate – NOT folic acid, a good source of choline, and vitamin D. This particular supplement does not contain iron. This is really important because unless you are iron deficient you may not need any extra iron in your prenatal. If you do, FullWell has an excellent iron supplement for that too. I recommend knowing what your iron levels are so you can make the best choice for your body. Remember to check out next week’s blog where I go into more details about why these are important! FullWell has an amazing line of fertility supporting supplements for both women and men. Use DrJasmine10 for 10% off your first order.
Make sure you check with your pregnancy care provider before starting any new supplement.
2. Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
Red raspberry leaf is considered a tonic to strengthen the uterus for pregnancy. It has been used to reduce labor times. It might even help reduce interventions during labor, like lower forceps usage, but more research is needed. It’s not just for pregnant moms though! Some women report it helps with PMS symptoms. It is a tea that is chock full of antioxidants and even has some promising cancer fighting ellagic acids. Of course, make sure to check with your pregnancy care provider before starting any new supplement, including red raspberry leaf tea!
3. Mountain Meadow Herbs Gentle Birth – 2oz – Childbirth Support
This herbal extract is designed to help ease labor. The extract contains blue cohosh root, skullcap herb, false unicorn root, ginger root, motherwort herb, partridge berry herb and red raspberry leaf. If you are drinking red raspberry leaf tea, they have a version that doesn’t have red raspberry leaf in it. This extract may help strengthen and tone the uterus and decrease healing times. I used it and I was able to have the homebirth I wanted. I even gave birth on my due date! Once again, please make sure that you are checking with your primary pregnancy care provider before starting any supplements, especially herbal supplements!.
4. The Mama Natural Week-by-Week Guide to Pregnancy and Childbirth
I love the layout of this book. I seriously used this book throughout my entire pregnancy! It was so exciting to read along each week of my pregnancy. More often than not I found myself reading ahead. She discusses what to expect with your body and what baby is doing each week. She also covers important topics and when to be thinking about them. She has a very natural approach to pregnancy but this book is helpful for any type of birth you are planning.
5. My HydroFlow Tumbler
This was a MUST HAVE! If you see me around, you see me carrying my hydroflow. It is so important to stay hydrated while pregnant and this makes it easier. It fits in my cup holder in my car, and it’s 40 ounces. Seriously, I LOVE this tumbler!
